BAND SPOTLIGHT | Zoe Muth and the Lost High Rollers

Last seen in Springfield on stage at the Hoogland for a Bedrock 66 Live! concert on Oct. 1, 2011, Zoe Muth has since continued on a veritable rampage of critical acceptance and festival appearances. Her soulful and bare bones country style captured the heart of purists who like for the music and the show to be real without pretension. She grew up in Seattle during the 1980s on a steady diet of classic rock-n-roll with Buddy Holly, the Beatles, Dylan and Springsteen as the artists she most listened to. From there she moved on to field recordings of Alan Lomax and made a natural transition toward simple folk music that tells the hard luck stories of the people of this country as sung by Woody, Leadbelly and the Carter Family. With all these influences of the most classic and stalwart performers of heartfelt and well done American music, it’s no wonder Muth crafted Starlight Hotel, an album that reached into people’s hearts and said hello, gaining praise from critics here and in Europe. She performs at St. Louis’ Twangfest on Saturday.
