BAND SPOTLIGHT | Two Trick Pony

Using Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, the Beatles, the Crystals and Buddy Holly from days of yore, plus a mishmash of more modern cuts from the Ramones and the Misfits, Two Trick Pony forges a special place in the Springfield music scene by converting classic tunes into fuzz guitar-driven, punkish sounding anthems. Founded when singer/guitarist Bernie Flesch (Zombots, Sonny) moved back to Springfield in 2010 and began searching for members to make a “50s punk, cover band,” he first hooked up with a steady drummer in Mat “1T” Hames (Incontinent Havoc, Sminners). Soon the lineup solidified with Kyle “KC” Jones (Merkins, Electric Dynamite) on bass, Matt “Woo” Natale (Boon, Go! Tsunami) on lead guitar and Brittney Franklin (Beverly & the Overloads, Big Fur) on lead vocals. Only a few months into playing out, the band came up with a bunch of originals they described as, “Punktry Western & Rockabilly,” with a fulllength, self-produced album of the material scheduled for a 2012 summer release.
