BOOK/MUSIC | Doses of rock ‘n’ roll

Dive into the world of addiction and rock and roll as Mike Doughty stars at The Legacy Theatre on Friday, Mar. 30 reading from his new memoir, The Book of Drugs and playing tunes from two new albums, Yes and Also Yes and The Question Jar Show. The Book of Drugs is about Doughty’s eight years as a member of the 90s band Soul Coughing and his addiction during that time. Rolling Stone called Doughty “a funny, unsparing writer.” Interesting tidbits Doughty uncovers on his website include the use of an antidepressant capsule as a percussion instrument on some tracks and that most of the album’s songs were written at the famous artist colony, Yaddo, where the likes of Truman Capote, Flannery O’Connor, Carson McCullers and Sylvia Plath worked. Other fascinating facts can be found at mikedoughty.com. Doughty will take audience questions, too, so have your inquisitive mind onboard. Doors open at 7 p.m.
