BAND SPOTLIGHT | SOMA

What happens when you take a batch of well-seasoned local musicians and combine them into a brand new concoction? Go see for yourself as SOMA breaks into the Springfield scene with its first full-on public display of live music. Featuring bandmates Brad Beneky on bass (Perfunctory This Band, Sarah Schneider Band, Frantic Sky), Tony Dyer on guitar and vocals (F5), Jimmy Crowley on drums (Rockshop 101, Soul Pudding, Springfield Shaky, Groove Daddies), Don White on guitar and vocals (Sarah Schneider Band, area soundman) and Kevin Schaul on lead vocals (a St. Louis transplant with no local history – keep an eye on him!), the group plays “a lot of newer rock stuff from the late 90s to current hits on the radio now” with an interesting and varied selection of popular tunes. Bands covered include Seether, Foo Fighters, Godsmack, Greenday, Weezer, White Zombie, Queens of the Stone Age, Buckcherry, Alice In Chains, Tool, Rage Against The Machine and others of that ilk.
