Are you a block captain or leader of your neighborhood organization within Ward 6?
If so, the deadline to apply for a grant through the Ward 6 Rehabilitation and Revitalization Fund is on Monday, April 2, at 5:30 p.m.
Grants awarded will be up to $1,000 per application or neighborhood organization.
The theme of the grant program is “Just Neighborhoods!” with the goal of the program being to encourage Ward 6 neighborhood associations to have projects that will beautify, rehabilitate and revitalize areas on public property.
Neighborhoods within the Ward 6 fund area include Grand Central, Harvard Park, Hawthorne Place, Historic West Side, Iles Park, Near South, Old Aristocracy Hill, Springfield South Corridor and Vinegar Hill.
“With so many dedicated neighbors and organizations within Ward 6, we wanted to give back and help financially to support efforts that are happening all around our inner city,” Ward 6 Ald. Cory Jobe said. “To date we have raised nearly $12,000 from residents, community leaders and businesses within Ward 6 who want to make a difference and show support for cleaning up and for greening up our inner city.”
The grant awards will be announced during a Ward 6 Fund block party on Sunday, May 6, 3-5 p.m., in the parking lot of RW Troxell Insurance located at 214 South Grand Ave. West.
