If you love the King, as in Elvis Presley, the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, you can celebrate his 77th birthday at the Hoogland Center of the Arts on Saturday, Jan. 7 with a tribute concert. Internationally-known performer Elvis Himselvis, also known as Rick Dunham of central Illinois, and his band take the stage. The tribute concert marks Dunham’s 27th year as an Elvis performance artist touring America, Canada and Europe. Dunham has been featured in the Chicago Tribune and USA Today, as well as television, radio and books. He is one-of-a-select-few to grace the King of Cards playing cards sold worldwide. Doors open at 6 p.m. when ticket holders can meet Olympic hopeful Lance Brooks and NHRA’s Tim Wilkerson. The concert will raise money for the nonprofit Mary Bryant Home for the Blind, located in Springfield.
