BAND SPOTLIGHT | Frank Trompeter Quintet Saxophonist, singer and band leader Frank Trompeter celebrates 200 nights of the Jazz Etc. Happy Hour at Marly’s this Friday. Here’s a breakdown for you math-challenged folks: for the weekly show, take 52 weeks a year rounded off to 50, divided into 200 makes about four years of Friday nights. Figuring about 10 songs an hour (the average tempo of a jazz band), that makes for 20 songs a night. Multiplied by 200 computes to at least 4,000 tunes in the life of the Jazz Etc. Happy Hour or approximately 1,000 tunes per year performed by Frank and friends over the course of the long-lasting engagement. To celebrate this phenomenal achievement, Trompeter lined up several special guests to perform with the Quintet, including Julie Hulvey, Doug Burns, Josie Lowder, Tom Irwin, Casey Ryan, Frank Parker, Hobey Tucker, Tim Niemeyer, Michael McMillan and Tombé Kemayo. Congratulations to all involved for this monumental accomplishment, not only for the longevity, but also simply for the quantity and quality of wonderful entertainment offered to patrons through the dedication and perseverance of the talented performers.
