THEATER | Heartland troubadours Catch the delightful Prairie Voices the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 25, at the Old State Capitol. Starring local acclaimed actors Kevin Purcell and Aasne Vigesaa, this is a great time to hear and see the one-hour performance that so many others have raved about as something special. A highlight of the Old State Capitol’s summer History Comes Alive program, Prairie Voices includes poems of central Illinois poets Vachel Lindsay, Edgar Lee Masters and Carl Sandburg, along with songs of the prairie and its people. Virginia Hosking accompanies on piano. Purcell compiled the material based on inspiration from Dennis Camp’s 1981 production at Sangamon State University Auditorium, “Three Illinois Poets: Masters, Lindsay and Sandberg.” Purcell played Masters in that production. Free public tours of the Old State Capitol are available. The site is open Tuesday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours in December during Holiday Walks. See also
