BAND SPOTLIGHT | Lyal Strickland

A singer-songwriter with multi-generational farm roots from the Missouri Ozarks, Lyal Strickland brings a staunch sense of stability and well-worn sensitivity to the performance of his self-penned material. His talents in lyrical ability and music maturity underscore the young man’s deep well of emotional creativity, providing a focused and passionate persona delving into subjects seemingly beyond his 20-something years. His latest recording, So Many Incidents (2009), leads him away from the average solo singer-songwriter niche with full-scale production by founding Ozark Mountain Daredevil, Larry Lee and performances by a host of talented folks from the Ozark area. Now on a constant touring schedule, Strickland travels from his Springfield, Mo., home area all around the Midwest, playing coffeehouses, listening rooms, bars, house concerts and festivals, wherever his music can be heard, getting the songs out there to a supportive and appreciative audience. For this show Lyal accompanies himself on acoustic guitar before a performance by Tom Irwin at the long-running Brewhaus Sunday night event.
