THIS LITTLE PIGGY PASTE WENT TO MARKET

Dr. Paul Kinsinger, a family doctor in Washington, near Peoria, knew that he needed to find another income stream to be able to continue his independent medical practice without affiliating with a hospital. That’s important because Kinsinger and his partner-brother regard their practice as a ministry, and refer some patients to Christian counselors. He also knew that 40 million Americans have ugly, fungal toenails, and vinegar helps makes them clear up, though it’s hard to get anybody to soak their toes 20 minutes a day. As medical director for a hospice, he knew about penetrating gels, used to administer pain medications to patients who are no longer able to swallow. So in 2009 he put these ideas together and invented Dr. Paul’s Piggy Paste with the motto, “Improve toenail appearance the easy way!” In the past 15 months Kinsinger has sold 12,000 tubes of the clear gel at $29.95, it’s now for sale at all area Walgreen’s and toenails are clearing up all over central Illinois.

In December the product took second place in the Illinois Innovative Business of the Year contest in Chicago. Kinsinger used the $10,000 prize money to join 10 area Chamber of Commerce organizations, including Springfield’s, to market his new product. Kinsinger was in Springfield at the Greater Springfield Chamber’s Business Expo last week to tell anyone who would listen about Dr. Paul’s Piggy Paste. Unlike a leading anti-fungal treatment, Dr. Paul’s doesn’t require a podiatrist and is not livertoxic. “This requires no doctor, no laser. This is not a medicine. Some of the competition is cheaper, but this works better for toenails. The others are good for ringworm, jock itch and athlete’s foot.”

Whether or not Kinsinger reaches his goal of making Piggy Paste into a nationwide brand, he’s having a grand time trying. “We have a sense of humor about this.

And it brings some excitement in the middle of my career.”
