THEATER | Slave history

Seven family-friendly performances are slated at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum for Charlayne Woodard’s play, Flight. Be transported back to a Georgia plantation in 1858 as a community of slaves tells stories of their lives, consoling themselves after the disturbing displacement as one-of-their-own is sold and sent away from her husband and young son. Based on actual slave narratives and African-American folktales, local actors in the production are: Toshianna Gorens, Christopher Roberts, Joel Tinsley-Hall, Tracie Shaw (pictured) and Tiffany Williams. The play is produced and directed by Phil Funkenbusch and Ed MacMurdo.
