BAND SPOTLIGHT | The Emerald Underground

Still Springfield’s Celtic house band by virtue of the number of performances surrounding the St.

Patrick’s Day ruckus, in the past year The Emerald Underground weathered another transformation in its evolution as the area purveyor of Celtic-fusion music. Longtime musician Jack White (vocals, keyboards, guitar), the last surviving member from Stone Ring Circle, the predecessor of TEU, stays with the group through the numerous St. Pat shows then remains on in an emeritus position of occasional performances. Lori (vocals, percussion) and Bill (bass, acoustic guitar, vocals) McKenzie, Theresa O’Hare (flute, piccolo, Irish whistles, vocals), Joe Kath (violin, vocals) and Nat Radwine (drums, percussion) continue from the original lineup with additional Celtic rockers Denny Moore (electric guitar) and Tom Irwin (acoustic guitar, bass, vocals) completing the fresh look. With the expanded lineup the group continues performing compositions from the incredibly rich vault of Celtic music, playing selections ranging from 500-some years ago to the present, including jigs, reels, marches, waltzes, airs, folk tunes, pop songs, rock anthems and other Celti-fied music in the inimitable Emerald Underground fashion.
