ACCESS 4 UPDATE
Springfield has been without a fully-functioning public TV channel
for more than a year now, but the channel’s producers aren’t giving up. In December 2009, Comcast shut down the production facility where the producers once created their shows, and the City of Springfield eventually took over broadcasting. However, the station still features mostly reruns because there is no production space to create shows, and some of the equipment needed has disappeared.
Now, the group is holding a fundraiser to help provide a production facility, equipment, instruction and advocacy for the producers. The Access 4 Producers Group “FUNraiser 5” will begin at 7 p.m., Feb. 25 in the upstairs of Maldaner’s Restaurant, 222 S. Sixth St. It will feature live music, a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction, a hula hoop workshop by Babbling Brooke, and an art sale and exhibit with local artists. Food will be provided, and the restaurant will be open downstairs as well. The music schedule is The Legendary Clampetts at 8 p.m., Fillet of Soul at 9 p.m., Hot Bag O’ Donuts at 10 p.m. and Bük at 11 p.m. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.
