Kurt Crandall Kurt Crandall May 24, Monday, 8:30pm Alamo, Illinois Central Blues Club Blue Monday www.kurtcrandall.com www.myspace.com/kurtcrandall The harmonica surely must be the easiest instrument to learn and the most difficult to master, thereby giving the world a glut of mediocre harp blowers and a handful of skillful players. Kurt Crandall, included in the latter category of harmonica enthusiasts, plies his trade across the U.S. and Europe on a regular basis from his current base in Richmond, Va. With a couple of original CDs under his belt, Crandall continues a tradition of blues harp playing based in the roots of the genre. He spent time in Georgia soaking up a Southern style and in Chicago going for an electric groove, then headed to Europe for successful tours in 2004 and again in 2009. Other styles covered by Crandall include Kansas City Jump blues and West Coast Swing, all involving hot harmonica licks and strong vocals surrounding a tight and experienced band knocking out the blues in whatever form necessary to rock the house.
