If you think Kurt and Jean-Ann Miller’s pork parfait — pulled pork,

barbecue sauce and mashed potatoes served in a sundae dish — sounds strangely appealing, you’re gonna dig their fried Pepsi.

The Millers, natives of Indiana and new to the Illinois State Fair, spent a month developing fried Pepsi after seeing something similar at the Texas State Fair in 2006. The recipe is top-secret, but Jean- Ann describes the final result as a sweettasting treat.

“We get asked a thousand times a day, ‘What is fried Pepsi?’” she says. “If everyone who asked actually bought it, it would be fabulous.”

The Millers aren’t partial to Pepsi — they can also fry Dr. Pepper, Orange and Mountain Dew. You can find these culinary creations, plus other Miller delicacies like Cajun catfish, fried mac ’n’ cheese and fried pickles, at Porky’s, located near Gate 2 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
