CAP CITY

Rod Blagojevich’s book, titled The Governor, comes out in September. We haven’t seen an advance copy, nor is there a “peek inside” option on Amazon.com, where the memoir is available for pre-ordering. So we have no idea whether the book for which Blago reportedly received $100,000 from Phoenix Books & Audio to “write” is worth the cash (though having already lived it, we could probably venture a guess).

But even though you can’t judge a book by its cover, you can get a pretty good idea by checking out some of the other — and equally outrageous — Phoenix titles due out around the same time as the erstwhile governor’s (notice a pattern?):

Elton John: The Bitch is Back is the account of the flamboyant rocker “every fan has been waiting for — from the addictions, toupees, affairs and scandals to the triumphant later years.”

Authored by the band’s front man Gene Simmons, Kiss Army Worldwide provides a “visual history” of the group’s 35 years in rock and roll. Mr. New Orleans, is the true-crime saga about an altar boy who eventually became a Big Easy underworld kingpin.

Finally, Dr. Phil needs His Head Examined: How Oprah’s Shrink Defrauded America chronicles the doc’s “dubious professional background,” a “greed-inspired” scam that eventually cost him millions in fines, and “the tyrannical way” he treats those around him.
