THROUGH SEPT. 25: CONTAINED CUBED. Bossier Arts Council is hosting their popular artists’ call for a third time, “Contained Cubed,” the 12” x 12” show. Local artists can submit their works for this exhibition, and all works will be sold for $50. Artwork submitted will be juried by an anonymous gallery panel. $10 submission fee for non-members. Free submission for BAC members/students/military (must provide valid ID). All completed works must be dropped off by Sept. 25 at Bossier Arts Council, 630 Barksdale Blvd. Artworks will be on display in the East Bank Gallery from Oct. 1 until Nov. 30. THROUGH OCTOBER 15: CARTOGRAPHIC CURIOSITIES, Historical Map Exhibit. This exhibit showcases cartography featuring maps from around the world dating from the 16th to the 19th century. From oblique city views, to the creation of orderly grids, to elaborate charts, located on the third floor of the LSUS Noel Memorial Library. THROUGH OCTOBER 30: A SQUIRREL FROM MEMORY is an exhibit by Shreveport native Douglas Degges that showcases Louisiana landscapes, fish, small game, rodents and pests by juxtaposing realistic graphite drawings with abstract paintings in acrylic. SEPTEMBER 24 - NOVEMBER 24: THE WORLD OF FRIDA, an exhibition highlighting 95 contemporary artists who have each created a piece inspired by the life and career of the fabulous Frida Kahlo. This exhibit comes from the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek, Calif. Opening night, Sept. 24, will also have food trucks and restaurants, face painting, music and more. SEPTEMBER 25: CRITICAL MASS 8 CRITICS CHOICE. The Shreveport Regional Arts Council’s critics series called for regional artists to present their works in the areas of literary, performing and visual arts for Critical Mass 8 (2020). THROUGH FALL: GAME-PORT AND NASA EXHIBIT landing at Sci-Port. THROUGH SEPTEMBER 26: DINING BY DESIGN. A NEW STEAM-inspired tablescape exhibit created by 16 local design personalities to open at Sci-Port Discover Center. Tickets are $50 and will help support local charities, including Robinson’s Rescue, Holy Angels, Roys Kids, The Renzi Center and Room Redux.
