[ Letters I wanted to respond to your most recent article in 318 Opinion. I’m always surprised at the people who “know” why and how large segments of the population vote. Since you didn’t address my reason for voting for President Biden, I thought I’d enlighten you. I’ve always voted my own convictions and the character of the candidate. The reason I voted for Joe Biden for president is because I found him to be a man of whom, although I may not agree with on every issue, I felt sure that he wouldn’t be a public embarrassment. I cringed every time President Trump walked to the podium. It was reminiscent of my eldest son’s (prepubertal) years when I knew he was going to say or do something socially unacceptable and think he was cute for having done so. I may be philosophical, but I want to see the return of statesmen representing our great nation, not a bunch of reality show wannabes. —Cheryl Green Just a note to let you know that Mr. Avallone’s hate-mongering and incessant whining is really getting old. Our city would be much better served by a column from someone who has a brain and some actual ideas about how to help Shreveport become a better community. Just a thought. — Lisa Nelson
