Out on Caddo Lake, Keith Carter was having a hard time hiring caregivers to help his aging father. Keith promised his dad that he would never place him in a nursing home and he would retire forever at the lake house.
“My father needed caregivers to assist in his activities of daily living, like bathing, grooming, food preparation and mobility assistance to go outside. I searched in Northwest Louisiana and found a franchise that met all our requirements, Always Best Care. I worked with the nurse owners, and eventually purchased the local franchise office in 2015.”
Always Best Care Senior Services is a national franchise based in Roseville, Calif. with over 180 franchises across the United States. In Louisiana, there are offices in Monroe and Baton Rouge. The Northwest Louisiana franchise office is located in Shreveport at 4700 Line Ave. and is locally owned by Keith and is locally managed by a staff of eight office personnel and over 90 caregivers servicing all of Northwest Louisiana.
ABC Shreveport is licensed and bonded by the Louisiana Department of Health and carries all the appropriate workers compensation, general liability and comprehensive protection plans for their patients. All caregivers are screened, reference checked, drug screened, background cleared and drivers license verified. All employee caregivers are given approximately 20 hours of training in-house and are provided royal blue scrubs you have seen around town and have grown to know and trust.
“Our caregivers and CNAs offer complete personal in home care, including light housekeeping, transportation, companion care, as well as bathing, dressing, grooming and food preparation. They are prepared to meet any need in the home, hospital, rehab, or assisted living facility” Always Best Care’s team will meet with the patient and family to do an in-depth intake and needs evaluation, and schedule from four to 24 hours a day. ABC offers comprehensive solutions to allow seniors to age in place and improve their quality of life every day.
In 2019, Always Best Care Senior Services was awarded the exclusive contract to provide In Home Care and Respite care to the Caddo and Bossier Council of Aging. Since 2016, ABC has been providing in home care to veterans through a regional contract with the VA Medical Center in Shreveport.
Growth is no stranger to Keith and his team at Always Best Care. In 2016, he was awarded the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year, in 2017, the Better Business Bureau Outstanding Customer Service Award, in 2018 the Sapphire Award for his local franchise from Always Best Care, and in 2019, the prestigious Largest Percentage Increase of any national franchise in the United States, by the Always Best Care Corporate Office. 2020 with the Coronavirus pandemic, Keith and his team have been working around the clock to provide safe in home care to their patients and keep their customers happy. “We stayed fully operational as an essential business, because that is what we do: Provide care to our patients,” Keith said.
“It has been a rewarding experience to help people who find themselves and their family in the situation I was in 2014 with my Dad. The best part is getting the notes from families knowing we helped them keep their parents and grandparents in the family home.”
