Dr. Stephen W. Wheat is one of the top physicians in the region specializing in electrodiagnostic medicine and the only physician in Northwest Louisiana using ultrasound as a non-invasive, visual approach to diagnosing the cause of neuromuscular and skeletal pain. Almost weekly, Dr. Wheat consults with a patient seeking answers for undiagnosed pain. “Diagnosing the exact cause of a patient’s pain is why I do what I do. Everything hinges on an accurate diagnosis,” said Dr. Wheat.

"I am board-certified in Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Internal Medicine and Physical Medicine and have spent almost three decades working to find the most reliable tools to diagnose people's nerve and muscle pain. My goal is to help them, as well as their physicians, get them back to their normal lifestyles as quickly as possible," said Dr. Wheat.

Dr. Wheat uses advanced diagnostic capabilities including ultrasound, Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) to diagnose chronic pain issues. These tests are used to help diagnose or rule out nerve and muscle disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatic nerve problems, herniated disk disease and unsuccessful neck or back surgery.

With one of the only accredited labs in the region, Dr. Wheat has performed greater than 14,000 electrodiagnostic procedures and more than 10,000 ultrasound, non-invasive procedures in almost 30 years as a physician. Dr. Wheat is one of the most trusted and skilled physicians in the region and has trained extensively at leading institutions. He now teaches and lectures at some of those same leading institutions.
