Recover, Inform, Support, and Empower
This biweekly support group is for women with cancer. Our open format group allows you to share personal experiences and learn from others. The focus is on empowerment, stress management and developing healthy, effective ways to cope with cancer-related issues. Speakers will be invited based on the topics the group chooses. The group alternates meeting dates to accommodate working women.

WK Tobacco Treatment Clinic Seminar
A tobacco cessation program designed to help individuals stop tobacco use and dependence. $30. Registration required. Joint Replacement Camp
Designed for those who are considering or who have scheduled total hip or total knee replacement surgery. The Willis-Knighton Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Institute offers participants insight into the joint replacement process, from pre-admission planning to surgery, follow-up and rehabilitation. Reservations required.

Super Smart Sitters
Girls and boys ages 11 and older will learn the basics of babysitting, including first aid, dos and don’ts, safety and CPR. Shreveport Fire Department and Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office personnel will cover fire and personal safety.

Look Good, Feel Better

This two hour, hands-on workshop includes a 12-step skin-care/make-up application lesson, demonstration of nail techniques and options for dealing with hair loss. Patients also use and take home complimentary cosmetic kits in their appropriate skin tones with helpful instruction booklets.

40 Minus: A Plus for Young Adults Living with Cancer

A professionally facilitated peer group designed for young adults in the Ark-La-Tex, age 40 or younger who are living with cancer. This group provides an opportunity for patients and their loved ones to discuss the emotional challenges and other concerns often faced by patients with cancer.

Lane Rosen, MD, director of radiation oncology at Willis-Knighton Cancer Center, will lead this workshop. It is designed to give female cancer patients information on issues related to their treatments and side effects.

salt intake is a dietary concern for many at any age. Growing concerns
over blood pressure and other chronic health concerns have prompted our

ways to flavor food with fresh herbs and herb blends instead of salt.
