Michael Dexter received the Life Saver Among Us Award at the 11th annual Draw Down for Think First held at East Ridge Country Club on Aug. 3. He stopped to render aid to an accident victim on Interstate 20. Board president Mary Smith welcomed attendees, and a live and silent auction were held.

Bingo on the Bayou for Catholic Charities was a sold-out event in its second year. Held on Aug. 19 at East Ridge Country Club, seven local priests and Bishop Michael Duca called the games, three in which the bingo was in the shape of a cross. Prizes were restaurant gift cards.
