Growing Up for Boys

Pediatric Partners Tuesday, Sept. 12, 6 p.m. WK Bossier Health Center Auditorium 2400 Hospital Drive This seminar helps parents prepare their preteen sons, ages 9-12, for the physical and emotional changes of adolescence. Dr. Wilson will help bridge the conversation between child and caregiver. Two advance registrations are required, one for the child and one for an adult male accompanying the child. $5

A tobacco cessation program designed to help individuals stop tobacco use and dependence. $30. Joint Replacement Camp

Designed for those who are considering or who have scheduled total hip or total knee replacement surgery. The Willis-Knighton Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Institute offers participants insight into the joint replacement process, from pre-admission planning to surgery, follow-up and rehabilitation. Reservations required.

Tuesdays, Noon 4th Floor Social Services Department This support group helps patients and their loved ones deal with emotional and other challenges faced by patients with cancer.

Look Good, Feel Better

Monday, Sept. 11, 11:30 a.m.

4th Floor Social Services Department This two-hour, hands-on workshop includes a 12-step skin care/make-up application lesson, demonstration of nail techniques and options for dealing with hair loss. Patients also use and take home complimentary cosmetic kits in their appropriate skin tones with helpful instruction booklets.

Coping With…Cancer: Disability

Wednesday, Sept. 13, Noon

2nd Floor Conference Room Tina Ware, disability determinations officer, will facilitate this workshop to help patients and their caregivers find new ways to cope with cancer.

40 Minus: A Plus for Young Adults Living With Cancer

Tuesday, Sept. 26, 4:30 p.m. 4th floor: Social Services Department 40 Minus is a young adult support group to help those affected with cancer cope with the emotions and challenges of cancer.

Woman to Woman: Caring for Your Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Needs

Wednesday, Sept. 27, Noon 2nd Floor Conference Room A workshop to give female cancer patients information on issues about to their treatments and side effects.

Heart to Heart – Women’s Cardiovascular Support Group

A monthly group discussion of topics related to women with heart disease. Presenters: Rhonda Curtis, RN, and Susan Miller, of WomenHeart: The National Coalition of Women with Heart Disease. Free. Reservations requested.
