 The Theatre of the Performing Arts of Shreveport presented their 24th Annual Yazzy, a celebration of “The Lates, the Greats, and Moore!” to a overjoyed crowd where Melba Moore took center stage. Tony winner and Grammy-nominated Moore, a multitalented singer, actress and musician, was the featured guest at River Theatre. – Special to The Forum The Krewe of Highland unveiled its royalty and theme for the 2017 season as “Highland & the World of Tomorrow,” a Dieselpunk-themed coronation ball July 29 at Aura Ultra Lounge. LeVette Fuller and Jim Hayes will reign over the Krewe of Highland. Dukes
and duchesses were also announced. The glittery celebration after the
coronation was in honor of board member Lisa McGill. Captain is Katy
Larsen, and co-captain is Valerie DeLatte. (.) – Mary Ann Van Osdell The Krewe of Atlas coronation was held July 23 at the Shreveport Convention Center. The theme was “Under the Big Top,” which had royalty auditioning for their respective characters in the circus
that is coming in January (the bal). Brett Burdges, Captain IX, was
ringmaster and owner of the circus, and had the royalty board the train
heading into Shreveport for the big circus that is coming. While the
train was leaving, there was a massive wreck, and no one knows the fate
of the circus now. Earshot Graffiti played, and Bistro Byronz catered. – Mary Ann Van Osdell Margariatville Resort Casino has expanded their dining options by opening Bamboo Asian Cafe. On
July 14, a grand opening preview party was hosted to showcase the new
restaurant’s offerings. The menu includes a great selection of
appetizers, entrees and desserts. They also offer a great selection of
