Hawk Talk Guest Speaker: Francie Forrester, master falconer Monday, Aug. 8, 2 p.m. Franks Community Centre

Master falconer Francie Forrester will present "Hawk Talk," a program that is sure to be informative and entertaining! Falconry, the sport of hunting with a trained bird of prey such as a hawk or falcon, dates back nearly 3,000 years. Forrester will bring her Harris's Hawk with her and will discuss birds of prey, their use and role in falconry and more. Cost: $5, nonresidents. Registration is required.

What You Need to Know about West Nile and Zika Virus Guest Speaker: Faye Mirfakhraee, infection prevention and control specialist at Willis-Knighton Health System Friday, Aug. 12, 2:30 p.m. Franks Community Centre Faye Mirfakhraee will discuss West Nile and Zika, both infectious diseases caused by a virus usually transmitted through a mosquito bite. Mirfakhraee will discuss symptoms and offer ways to minimize your risk of contracting either disease. Cost: $5, nonresidents. Registration is required.

Now That's Funny! A Comedy Show for Seniors Guest Performer: Jeff Love Thursday, Aug. 25, 5 p.m. Franks Community Centre Comedian Jeff Love is no stranger to Louisiana, having attended LSU for sports management and music. He put away those initial dreams to pursue a career in stand-up comedy, and nearly 30 years later his resume includes opening for such impressive acts as the Beach Boys, the Guess Who, Sherman Hemsley and Drew Carey, among others. Cost: $5, nonresidents. Registration is required.

Above Par: Local Golf Phenom Shares Story

Guest Speaker: Philip Barbaree Jr. Friday, Aug. 26, 3 p.m. Tower Ballroom Philip Barbaree Jr., C.E. Byrd High School senior and LSU golf commit, will share the incredible story of his rise as one of golf's most gifted junior players. Barbaree is the No. 1 ranked junior amateur golfer in the world. In 2015, he won, among others, the U.S. Junior Amateur, coming from behind by five strokes, the largest comeback in U.S. Junior Amateur history, and the 2015 Sprint International. He also was named AJGA Tour Rolex Junior Player of the Year in 2015. Earlier this year, he helped lead Byrd to a Division 1 state championship. Barbaree recently got his first taste of the PGA tour when he teed off at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tenn. He will give tips and answer questions. You might even get him onto the Oaks' putting green.
