 Inauguration Day Louisiana senators and representatives were sworn in Jan. 11 at the Capitol in Baton Rouge, as was Louisiana’s new governor and other statewide elected officials. There was a 19-cannon salute, prayers and music. The Centenary College Choir was among preinaugural performers. The U.S. Military Academy at West Point Glee Club concluded the festivities along with a flyover by F15s. Inaugural activities included a welcome reception at the Louisiana State Museum the prior evening. Inauguration day began with a Mass at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, followed by various receptions. A ball was held at Celtic Studios. Presidential candidate Ted Cruz was in Baton Rouge at separate events – a luncheon and rally. Residents from Shreveport and Bossier City were spotted amongst the activities.
