WK Party: Willis-Knighton hosted their annual Doctor’s Christmas Party on Dec. 9 at their Willis-Knighton North location. This year’s party featured elaborate decorations made by hospital staff members. There was also an extensive buffet of delicious food catered by the hospital culinary staff. Sushi, Italian, Chinese, Mexican and carving stations were just some of the tasty offerings.

Twelfth Night: Twelfth Night is the official kickoff of the Mardi Gras season, and this year’s celebration was again a joint effort between the Krewe of Centaur and the Krewe of Gemini. Hosted at the Bossier Civic Center Jan. 3, the evening was a presentation of the area krewe’s kings, queens and royal courts to the public. More than a dozen krewes from the region attended the party to showcase their royalty. Entertainment was provided by Chicken On The Bone from New Orleans.

Big Apple: The Krewe of Justinian celebrated the Big Apple at its 21st ball Jan. 16 at the Horseshoe Riverdome. Entertainment was provided by Downtown Fever before the royalty was presented. Broadway show tunes played prior. This was the first time Justinian had a prince and princess on the court. Centerpieces included balloons in honor of the Macy’s Parade, candy to represent Dylan’s Candy Bar, Times Square, a crystal ball for New Year’s Eve and the Statue of Liberty. Amongst the silent auction were faces of krewe members superimposed on such New York icons as the Rockettes, Ellis Island immigrant, Yankees players and FDNY.

Women’s Club: Royalty on Stage was a twofold event held Jan. 15 at the Woman’s Department Club. The evening began with a silent auction and seated dinner and then a performance next door at the Shreveport Little Theater – “Two On The Aisle, Three in a Van.” Mardi Gras decorations and place settings filled the dinner room. Auction items included a stay at a Destin, Fla., condo; seafood dinner for 12; and New Orleans vacation at a French Quarter condo.

Time Warp: “Time Warp” was the theme of the Krewe of Elders Grande Bal held Jan. 23 at Sam’s Town. Entertainment was provided by The Pack. Guests enjoyed a dinner buffet in a room that was lit with glow sticks at every table. After the tableau, a second line formed.

Global Power: The Global Power Museum Association Awards Banquet (formally the Eighth Air Force Museum Association) was held Jan. 24 at Eldorado Casino Resort. The Museum Association presented (Ret.) Lt. Gen. Thomas J. Keck, past commander, 8th Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base. He was in command of the 8th Air Force during the 9/11 series of events, including briefly hosting former President George W. Bush with Air Force One at Barksdale.

YPI: The Young Professional Initiative in conjunction with the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce held its first social event of the year Jan. 29 at the Remington Hotel in downtown Shreveport. Aesclepius Ball: The Krewe of Aesclepius celebrated its 25th year, beginning its ball with bringing back past royalty. It was held Jan. 30 at the CenturyLink Center. The theme was “License to Thrill,” and the duchesses were Bond girls. After the tableau, Code Blue and the Flatliners played dance music.
