Christmas in the Sky: Shreveport Regional Arts Council held SKY ROCKS its 16th biennial fundraiser 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs. The electric and eclectic musical journey was produced by the city of Shreveport, Hilton- Shreveport and Harrah’s Louisiana Downs and benefits SRAC.










CD Release: Project
of Love, a music trio using live music venues to spread the word about
the mission of CHNGNF8. org and act as ambassadors for the healing power
of art, released their first album, “CHNGNF8” (Changing Fate), at a
party held Oct. 8 at Eldorado Resort Casino. Project Of Love features
Joey Percival, David Green and Tracy E. Thomas. Percival and Green were
the rhythm section of Shreveport’s legendary Picket Line Coyotes. The
CHNGNF8.org foundation is dedicated to providing free access the tools
necessary for cancer survivors and/or their caregivers to communicate
what it means to survive through the arts.



Christmas Cheer: Members
of the Bossier Chamber of Commerce gathered Dec. 4 for the second
annual Christmas Cheer celebration sponsored by Horseshoe Casino and
Hotel Bossier City Louisiana, Destiny Day Spa & Salon, Splash
Kingdom, SuddenLink Communications and Vogue Photo Pod. The Bossier
Chamber’s 2014 board of directors were recognized for their service, and
the 2015 board of directors was announced.

Women’s Club: The
LSU Health Women’s Club held its fall fundraiser dinner on Nov. 16 at
the home of Dr. Horacio and Linda D’Agostino. The club is a welcoming
committee, social outlet and service organization for women with a
common interest to support LSU Health. The evening was relaxing and
casual with Mexican food and numerous desserts.


Quota Club: Five
venues were on the 23rd annual Christmas Tour of Homes presented by
Quota International of Bossier City. The event was held on Dec. 7. The
Lowery home, a dogtrot, was built by Ted Lowery, a retired state police
captain. It has a green metal roof. The family enjoys the breezeway and
Murphy bed. Joyce Lowery showed her collection of policemen Santas. Next
door is the Oakland Plantation, built between 1832-46 by Dr. Abel
Skannal. Two of the five fireplaces are original as are the pine floors
and hand-cut timbers from the property that are found as beams
throughout the living area. One of the decorations is an original window
with an aerial map of the property. The shutters and windows are
original.


Dedication: CHRISTUS
Provident Internal Medicine held its blessing, dedication and
ribbon-cutting Dec. 9 at CHRISTUS Health’s location on Bert Kouns. Dr.
Randy del Mundo held an open house afterward.

Christmas Party: The
CHRISTUS medical staff and board rotates its Christmas party. This year
it was held Dec. 11 at 601 Spring St. A harpist played music and a
variety of food and desserts were available, including beignets.



Marlene Yu Museum: The
Marlene Yu Museum and Rainforest Art Foundation held its preview party
Dec. 19 at the museum’s location at 710 Travis St. More than 30 visual
artists are on display at the museum. Formerly the YWCA building in
downtown Shreveport, the space has been completely remodeled and looks
spectacular. Large, oversized artwork have taken residence in what was
once the gymnasium, filling the walls, floor to ceiling. Multiple pieces
of art filled several other galleries located throughout the facility.
The museum is now open to the public.
