Hutchinson family came from as far away as North Carolina on Oct. 18 to thank and honor Campbell Hutchinson of New Orleans. “Hutch” has written a book, “A Sense of Place,” which updates the family history and Caspiana plantation. Cousins by the dozens met at the Pioneer Heritage Center on the LSUS campus where the family home, “The Big House,” built in 1856, has been relocated. The center also includes a blacksmith shop, doctor’s office, commissary and several other plantation structures from the 1850s era.
