• The American Bar Association has appointed Scott Wolf, a director of Blanchard, Walker, O’Quin & Roberts, to several prestigious positions within the Tort and Trial Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association for the 2014-15 fiscal year including chair of the medicine and law committee, member of the TortSource Editorial Board, member of the Membership Committee, member of the General Committee Board and member of the Brief Editorial Board.
• Home Federal Bank held a ribbon-cutting for a new branch location at the intersection of Highway 80 and Stockwell Road in Bossier City. The additional location in Bossier City represents a firm commitment to expand HFB’s full-service banking presence in Bossier Parish. The branch amenities include drive-through banking, 24-hour ATM and onsite parking. As do other HFB locations, the Stockwell Road location offers customers a wide array of personal and business banking services.
• Boomtown Casino and Hotel announced that Austin Muchemore has been promoted to vice president and general manager. In his new role, Muchemore will be responsible for the daily operations of Boomtown Casino and Hotel. Muchemore was previously vice president of gaming operations at Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs, a property also owned by Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. He replaces Rod Centers, who was promoted to vice president and general manager of Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City.
• The American Bus Association announced that Mudbug Madness to be held on May 21-24, has been designated as one of the Top 100 Events in North America for 2015 by an experienced,expert tourism industry selection committee. Inclusion in the Top 100 list, published as a supplement to the September/October issue of Destinations magazine, indicates that Mudbug Madness offers excellent entertainment value to both tour groups and individual travelers from around the world, according to ABA.
• Shreveport Green Neighborhood and Education Program was recently awarded “Most Innovative Program” by Keep Louisiana Beautiful, the state’s nonprofit organization dedicated to litter prevention, waste reduction and recycling. The “Most Innovative Program” is awarded to the KLB affiliate, nonprofit organization, civic group or governmental entity that has introduced a successful environmental initiative that is particularly creative or innovative. • Centenary Colleges’s Head Men’s Basketball Coach Adam Walsh received High Point University’s Young Alumni Achievement Award earlier this month in High Point, N.C. Walsh was one of three alumni recognized for work and service by High Point University during the Alumni Weekend. The Young Alumni Achievement Award is given to an alumnus or alumna 35 years old or younger based on outstanding promise in his or her field of endeavor, demonstrated leadership, and service to High Point University and/or his or her community.
