Actor Laz Alonzo is scheduled to make an appearance during the Minority Business Expo slated 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 25 from at the Shreveport Convention Center.

In 2011, Alonzo starred in the hit romantic comedy “Jumping the Broom” for which he received a 2012 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture.

He played the heroic role of “Tsu’Tey” in the highest grossing film of all time, “Avatar,” and was the lead villain, “Fenix,” in Universal Studio’s “Fast and Furious,” which reunited the original cast.

Other movie credits include lead roles in “Stomp The Yard,” “This Christmas” and “Miracle at St. Anna,” and a co-starring role in “Jarhead,” and the remake of the classic, “Straw Dogs.”

He produced and starred opposite Danny Glover in “Down For Life,” which received critical acclaim and earned a much-coveted position in the Toronto Film Festival.

He is currently shooting the lead in the NBC pilot, “Mysteries of Laura,” alongside Debra Messing and Josh Lucas.

Hosted by the Shreveport-Bossier African- American Chamber of Commerce, the Minority Business Expo is an annual, networking opportunity for minority business owners, entrepreneurs and prospective business owners operating in the local community to promote and expand their businesses.

The SBAACC has promoted minority businesses in the community for more than 70 years. SBAACC represents the interests of such businesses in public and private sector forums and offers management and technical assistance to improve the effectiveness of minority-owned businesses in the community. “Helping Businesses Do Business” is SBAACC’s goal.
