Designed for those who are considering or who have scheduled total hip or total knee replacement surgery. The Willis-Knighton Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Institute offers participants insight into the joint replacement process, from preadmission planning to surgery and follow-up. This annual conference is designed for registered nurses and other healthcare providers who wish to gain more knowledge on special issues specific to the pediatric population including but not limited to physical abuse, sexual abuse, recognizing and addressing neglected children, and kid victims in the criminal court system. Student registration is only available by telephone, current student ID required. $50 for Willis-Knighton employees, $70 for nonemployees, $15 for students.

Well Worth It Series: How to Avoid Scams

Guest Speaker: Claire Crawford, Victims Assistance specialist

Tuesday, Oct. 21, 3:30 p.m.

Alta and John Franks Community Centre Deputy Claire Crawford will discuss the different types of scams that are currently being conducted on Ark-La-Tex residents and how to avoid becoming the next victim. Crawford will outline the tricks used by scammers to obtain personal information, such as account numbers, Social Security numbers, and passwords. Cost: $5, nonresidents. Registration is required.
