Captain Shreve High School will honor its newest “Circle of Honor” recipients. This award is given to those who have gone above and beyond in their support of the school and its students. This event only happens every two years and this year it will be held Sept.18 at East Ridge Country Club. Each recipient will be honored publicly on the night of the banquet and at the homecoming football game Sept. 19, as well as, having their photo permanently placed with others on the “Circle of Honor Wall” in the halls of Captain Shreve High School. This year’s recipients are Elizabeth Harrison, Lee Langdon, David Murphy, Peggy Murphy and Adrian Perkins.

Elizabeth Harrison is a 1984 graduate of Captain Shreve who returned to Shreve in 1999 as a counselor and teacher of AP and gifted English as well as broadcast journalism and sponsor of KGTR. She was known to describe CSHS as one of the “best kept treasures of Shreveport”; which was one of the reasons many families chose CSHS. She died from cancer June 13, 2008.

Lee Langdon is a retired teacher who taught at Captain Shreve for 12 years elevating the history department to a league above all others in Shreveport with the majority of his students taking and passing AP exams. He was truly revered and feared among students. He still tutoring many students preparing for the AP exams.

David Murphy is a parent; has been an active force in the development of the Athletic Council of Captain Shreve, and still remains very active although all three of his children have already graduated from Captain Shreve.

Peggy Murphy is an alumni (1979) and parenthas been instrumental in the establishment of the Captain Shreve Academic Foundation; Alumni President as well as PTSA Board member, instrumental in Captain Shreve receiving the Caddo District PTA Service Award in 2006 and again 2013. Past CSHS PTSA President.

Adrian Perkins is an alumni (2003) West Point graduate who returns to CSHS once or twice a year to encourage students to work hard, stay in school and fulfill their potential. He motivates students by saying, “Running track got me into West Point but the study skills and leadership skills he learned and cultivated at CSHS kept him in West Point and launched his career to what it is today.”
