Residents adapt to apattment living at its finest

Coates Bluff Apartments on historic Wright Island is a new apartment complex to Shreveport-Bossier City, offering cozy yet spacious homes.
Complete with unique amenities, sprawling manicured grounds and a tight-knit community, residents at Coates Bluff will feel like they’re living in a permanent vacation.
“Coates Bluff is the perfect blend of style, luxury and location,” Emily Mott, public relations/community coordinator for U.L. Coleman, said. With both one-and two-bedroom apartment layouts, beautiful views and a 10,000-square-foot clubhouse for residents to utilize, Coates Bluff has something for everyone.

Wright
Island, tucked away just north of Shreveport Barksdale Boulevard, is a
beautiful, tranquil wooded setting, perfect for those who prefer the
quiet contentment of the country, while appreciating the convenient
proximity to shopping, restaurants and entertainment from the city.
The
complex is not only appealing to the soul, but also to the eye with its
oneof-a-kind architecture. The plantationstyle clubhouse boasts arched
doorways, brick floors and beautiful rugs and interior design, while the
entire complex at-large gives the impression of a moment stopped in
time – moments residents can enjoy from the upstairs clubhouse veranda
while sipping iced tea, rocking in a wooden chair under a whirling fan
and planning to never leave home again.
The
brainchild of Linc Coleman, president of U.L. Coleman Companies and
Cole Guthire, development manger, Coates Bluff is truly a one-of-a-kind
establishment.
In
the early 1800s, Larkin Edwards moved to the Caddo Indian Village
overlooking what is now Shreveport on Coates Bluff. James Coates arrived
shortly thereafter, and the community began, quickly turning into a
competition with the newly-formed Shreve Town Company, whose partners
included Capt. Henry Miller Shreve.
When
the federal government decided the first post office would be located
in the Coates Bluff region, Shreve began the process of removing the
Great Raft from the Red River. And when the Shreve Town partners
discovered the post office would be at
Coates Bluff and not in their community, they decided to take action to
change the decision. Shreve brought the snagboat Eradicator and cut the
river, changing the peninsula of Coates Bluff to the island known as
Wright’s Island. The water was soon drained around Coates Bluff,
effectively cutting it off from river trade. Without the benefit of the
Red River and Bayou Pierre, Coates Bluff lost its post office, and the
once flourishing community became farmland for the next century.
But
now, Coates Bluff once again offers community and thriving living right
on Anderson Bayou, where residents can fish, enjoy a round on a putting
green or hike and bike the many beautiful trails surrounding the area –
for no additional fees. Residents of Coates Bluff also have complete
access to the clubhouse’s Wi-Fi café, fully staffed kitchen and business
center.
Coates
Bluff’s true heartbeat is community. Tuesday movie nights are offered
to residents, where those on the grounds can come, catch a movie,
fellowship with other residents, and enjoy free candy and popcorn, all
from luxurious leather recliners.
Other
amenities include a seasonal farmers market, washer and dryers inside
every apartment, free bike rentals, indoor and outdoor kitchens, a
two-mile hiking trail, three spacious pools, onsite laundry services, a
covered car wash area, a 3-acre central park, a community event planner,
waterfront parks with barbecue pavilions and a 24-hour fitness center,
complete with classes offered by on-site fitness trainers for no
additional cost. Garages are also available to residents for rental.
Coates
Bluff is in the process of setting up a “bark park” onsite for
residents’ dogs to play freely and safely inside a designated fenced
area, right on the grounds. Professional groomers also will make
appointments for residents to have their pets groomed and treated right
there at Coates Bluff.
The
complex prides itself on its energy efficiency, which not only is
better for the environment, but goes the extra mile in cutting costs for
residents’ energy bills. The entire complex is smoke-free, has electric
vehicle charging stations, Energy Star lighting packages and appliances
within the apartment, offers eco-friendly maintenance practices and
on-site recycling, and uses environment-friendly cleaning supplies.
During
the construction of Coates Bluff, 75 percent of the construction waste
was recycled, while the building materials included 25 percent recycled
content.

Energy Rating System studies have proven that residents at Coates
Bluff, because of the energy-efficient effort put forth, will save
hundreds of dollars annually on utility bills compared to typical
establishments.
The
apartments at Coates Bluff cut no corners. Most layouts come complete
with a washer and dryer unit in the laundry room, walk-in closets,
garden tubs with rounded shower curtains, oversized kitchens with
granite countertops, giant bathrooms, wood burning fire places,
nine-foot ceilings, outside storage, large kitchen island, intrusion
alarm systems, a private balcony or patio, exposed cypress beams, vinyl
wood floors, wrap-around porches complete with either a swing or rocking
chairs, and of course, the energyefficient appliances. Potentials for
certain layouts include walk-in showers, ceiling fans, screened porches
and more.
“Never
before has Northwest Louisiana, or Shreveport, seen a lifestyle
development like Coates Bluff,” Mott said. “The quality of the
construction, the attention to detail, the focus on healthy living and
the respect for the historical significance of the area set it apart
from anything previously available.”
Residents
at Coates Bluff will not only enjoy safe, secure and spacious housing,
but they will also discover a tight-knit community of neighbors and find
they have finally arrived at a true home.
