The Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce welcomes Michael G. Doughty to the team in the role of vice president of membership development and marketing.

“Doughty will focus on increasing our membership and revenues through an aggressive marketing program and support of our board of directors and volunteers,” Dick Bremer, Chamber president, said. “He will establish a robust social media presence for the Chamber, to help current and future members keep track of the incredible services the organization provides.”

Through regular correspondence with members, Doughty will work to ensure their needs are addressed and expectations exceeded.

“We are pleased to have Doughty on board, and he will work tirelessly to build a vibrant network of local and regional members to take advantage of opportunities to improve our community,” Helen Godfrey Smith, chairman of the Chamber, said.

“The Greater Shreveport Chamber exists to bring business and employment to the region,” Doughty said. “It is truly humbling to help this century old institution continue to serve the businesses and residents of Shreveport.”

A native of Shreveport, Doughty received a bachelor’s of art in mass communications from Louisiana State University Shreveport. While at the university, Doughty was inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the communications honors society, and worked for the LSUS weekly publication, The Almagest, first as a reporter, then an editor.

Following graduation, Doughty continued his career in journalism and spent just under three years reporting for The Shreveport Times, where he covered a range of topics including crime and courts, business and economic development as well as health and hospitals.
