Spring season brings new energy, ideas and resolve to clear out the cobwebs and bring out the best in your home – whether via spring cleaning, freshening up décor or planting a garden or for most of us, cleaning the ceiling fans and installing a new plant or two. Nothing provides inspiration for this inevitable bout of spring fever like the annual Parade of Homes tour.

This year’s Parade of Homes will be open 1 to 6 p.m. May 31-June 1 and June 7-8.

Tickets can be purchased at all area Brookshire’s grocery stores as well as at each participating home on the tour route.

Well past its 50th year, the Parade of Homes, which is orchestrated by the equally long-standing Home Builder’s Association of Northwest Louisiana, features the best and loveliest of local homes.

Some carefully curated by their owners, and some brand new and available to buyers, each home offers the best in design, quality, innovation and presence.

The Parade of Homes showcases the best Shreveport, Bossier City and surrounding areas have to offer in construction, design, décor and vendors.

The 2014 tour boasts 53 homes by 35 builders on its route and features homes in Shreveport, Bossier City, Keithville, Stonewall, Benton and Haughton.

The list of 32 communities and neighborhoods reflects a diverse range of growing, thriving developments and gives participants a chance to show off their work to those shopping for homes or simply window shopping for inspiration.

Every detail of the homes featured has been set in place by experienced hands,

and parade goers will be treated to an inside look at both new construction and freshly remodeled homes.

Originally, the Parade of Homes tour exclusively featured newly built houses, but in recent years, the HBA has added new elements to the tour, including remodeled homes and outdoor living spaces.

They have also made the tech-friendly move to create a smartphone app for the tour, which provides guests with details on each home and a comprehensive guide with directions along the route.

Guests also receive an exclusive peek into the annual House for Hope, a custom home raffled off to benefit Community Renewal International’s Friendship House project.

The 2014 House for Hope was built in the Provenance Community, and the winner of the home will be announced June 30.

This year’s home was built by the sitting president of the HBA, Justin Sevier of Vintage Construction Group.

The HBA of Northwest Louisiana was established in 1955 and represents over 600 local members in the construction, remodeling and development industry. Dedicated to serving members on a local, state and national level, the HBA participates in state and federal legislature and developments involving residential and commercial construction issues, and they work to promote the best interests of our area builders and residents.

The HBA also serves the community as the go-to source for industry information and resources.

They connect the public to the best resources Shreveport-Bossier City has to offer in the construction and remodeling and they facilitate relationships between the community and home industry.
