Therapy: The Center for Families presented Wine, Cheese and Therapies, an event held on Nov. 2 at Guiseppe’s. Guests experienced therapy as a way of living and a four-course meal that included gourmet mini pizzas and cheese beignets, mushroom ravioli, chicken breast layered with ham, Swiss cheese, sage and wine sauce, and pumpkin panna cotta topped with vanilla hazelnut sauce. Color therapy was at each diner’s seat. They used crayons to say what the center’s logo meant to them and winners received Guiseppe gift certifi cates. Mint water after dinner served as hydrotherapy. Appetizers considered aphrodisiacs served as love therapy, along with kissing therapy from love goddesses. Other activities included ear massages for touch therapy, laughter therapy, photo therapy and jewelry therapy. Music therapy included a harpist and the River Cities Jubilee Chorus. Outdoors, there was even thrill therapy for those who wanted to ride a mechanical bull. The silent auction was called green therapy. Lee Michaels offered a $2,000 shopping spree in a raffle.

ATHENA: Pamela Pero and Pat Wyatt are the ATHENA Award winners from Shreveport and Bossier, respectively. The 23rd annual luncheon was held Nov. 7 at the Shreveport Convention Center. Sonja Bailes emceed. Past recipients were recognized. The award is presented in recognition of achievements of outstanding professional and business leaders who have assisted others in reaching their full leadership potential.

March of Dimes: March of Dimes honored a local doctor Dr. J. Dudley Talbot at the signature chefs auction event 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at Horseshoe Casino Riverdome. The event’s theme was “A Stroll Through Time” and featured culinary chairman, Jason Brady of Wine Country Bistro.

Cornerstone: The annual Community Renewal Cornerstone Banquet was held Nov. 14 at East Ridge Country Club. More than 600 people attended to learn more about Community Renewal, hear an inspiring speech from Washington, D.C., attorney Steve Danzansky, and honor this year’s Bridge Award winners – Bo Harris and Felicia Malveaux.

Taste of Shreveport: Generations came together to benefi t Holy Angels at the Taste of Shreveport- Bossier City on Nov. 16 at the Bossier Civic Center. Besides getting to sample food, there was a large silent auction. Among food vendors were Don Juanz, Monjuni’s, Red Mango, Rotolo’s, the Shreveport Fire Department, Texas Street Steakhouse and Wine Country. Desserts represented were from Chocolate Crocodile, Cheesecake Bistro and Cupcake Gallery. Some of the residents of Holy Angels took the stage to sing.

Les Boutiques de Noel: Guests at Les Boutiques de Noel hopped on board for the 2013 event that featured a French Quarter Christmas. It was held at the Bossier Civic Center, with preview night being Nov. 20. Sid Potts Inc. sponsored the gala. Everyone was given Mardi Gras beads featuring Santa on a street car with masks and fl eur de lis. Robert Trudeau and his troupe paraded with a tambourine. Silver Star catered. The following three days featured a market. The event is put on by the Shreveport-Bossier Opera Guild.

NWLA Pediatric Society Meeting: The Northwest Louisiana Pediatric Society Meeting held their holiday meeting Nov. 21 at East Ridge Country Club. The Dr. William H. Haynie, SR Award was presented to Dr. Joseph Bocchini and the Dr. Donald G. Mack Award was presented to Kassi Robinson.
