Joint Replacement Camp

Conducted by Willis-Knighton Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Institute A class for patients scheduled for total hip or total knee replacement surgery or who are seriously considering surgery. It provides patient education about the hospital experience for total hip or total knee replacement surgery. Participants will learn about the entire joint replacement process from pre-admission planning, surgery and follow-up outpatient therapy. FREE. Reservations required, space limited.

Nutritious Nibbles

Presented by Julie Harley, RD, LDN, CHHC WK Pierremont Health Center 8001 Youree Drive, Auditorium Eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to give up flavor.

At this seminar, dietitian Julie Hartley will discuss satisfying, healthy snacks that are high in nutrients but low in fat, sodium and cholesterol. She will also explain how to pack smart sack lunches and portion food to avoid overeating or binging. Willis-Knighton Health System has partnered with The American Heart Association for the My Heart My Life program to promote wellness, prevention and education around heart disease and other heart-related illnesses. Cost: $7, includes lunch. Reservations required.

Conducted by Eileen Czerwinski, MA Tuesdays, noon A cancer diagnosis is very traumatic for patients, families and friends. This group is designed to help patients and their loved ones discuss the emotional challenges and other concerns often faced by patients with cancer.

Woman to Woman: Genetic Testing

Wednesday, Jan. 15, Noon Presented by Dr. Maxwell "Chip" McDonald Second Floor Conference Room An educational program to give female cancer patients information on issues unique to their treatments and side effects. Patients will also have the opportunity to discuss their concern with different healthcare providers.
