The Plumbing Warehouse/LCR, vendors remodel bathroom for contest winner
Last month, Shreveport voted Ann Reeks the winner of the Ugly Bath Contest held by The Plumbing Warehouse/LCR.
The contest was posted on The Plumbing Warehouse/LCR’s Facebook page a couple of months prior in order to promote their new page and grand opening of their new showroom.
“This was the rst year, but it will be an annual event,” Cathy Carr, of The Plumbing Warehouse/LCR, said. “We had over 19,000 views on Facebook as a result of this contest. We hope to have at least 20 entries next year, and you can enter again if you did not win this year.”
The winner was chosen by the total number of likes on their photo of the bathroom posted in a gallery on Facebook. Reeks received 418 votes or 49 percent of the total 849 votes. The contest winner took home a prize valued at $8,000 to $10,000 to spend on a new bathroom. LCR provided all of the materials for the job and they partnered with different vendors who provided the labor.
Remodeling of the new bathroom included:
• tearing out the bathroom to the studs by Whitlock and Shelton GC;
• sheetrock by Whitlock and Shelton GC;
• cast-iron bathtub, Comfort Height Toilet, 48” Vanity and Linen Towers;
• lavatory faucets and tub/shower faucet with a rain head and a hand shower by The Plumbing Warehouse and Kohler;

Reeks, a retired art teacher, was entered into the contest by daughters.
“I would say she was very excited,” Carr said. “Mrs. Reeks has lived in her home for 60 years, and it is lled with a lifetime of memories. She brought each of her three daughters home from the hospital to this house.”
The remodeling team had some challenges and was also on a time crunch in order to nish the bathroom remodel before the holidays.
“As with any remodel project, there are always unexpected surprises. In Mrs. Reeks’ home, we found rotten sub ooring under the tub and lead pipes,” Carr said. “That is why you should only use a licensed builder or remodeler as well as a licensed plumber and electrician. They are professionals and know how to address the unexpected.”
After a week, Reeks and her family were able to enjoy her new bathroom in Broadmoor.
Carr said LCR is also ready to help customers with any remodeling questions.
“At LCR advice is always free,” Carr said. “We enjoy helping you plan your bath remodel and we feel that we can cater to almost any budget. We like to say if you can dream it we can nd it for you.”
Carr said entries for the 2014 Ugly Bath Contest will be Aug 1-31. Voting will be Sept. 1-30 and construction will be late October to mid-November.
