Military Luncheon: The Bossier Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2013 Military Speaker Luncheon on June 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites location in Bossier City. The luncheon featured several speakers including Col. Andrew J. Gebara, Col. Joseph C. Jones, Col. Russell F. Mathers and Maj. Gen. Robert D. Rego. The speakers talked about the effects of the sequestration, accomplishments in 2013 and a look at what’s ahead for the Air Force base.

BRAVO! Awards: Shreveport Little Theatre and Academy hosted the 12th annual BRAVO! Awards honoring SLT’s 91st season volunteer casts, production crews and graduating seniors. The ceremony and dinner was held July 16 at East Ridge Country Club. Seven SLT Academy highschool graduates were presented college scholarships at the event based on their participation with the youth academy. BRAVO! Award ballots were mailed to the theater’s membership, who voted on 27 performances in six acting categories.

Survivors Luncheon: Janie Walters, an inspirational speaker, addressed the Northwest Louisiana Susan G. Komen affi liate for its Survivors Luncheon. The event was held July 20 at the American Rose Center. Attendees wore hats – many of them pink.
