RFC: The Krewe of Justinian Royalty Mixer was held 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 30 at the Robinson Film Center. Justinian XX Coronation will be Aug. 16 at Margaritaville Casino for King Neil Erwin, Queen Berry Glassell, Duchesses Amy Gardner and Rebecca Edwards, and Dukes Will Huguet and Santi Parks.

Bret: It was “Nothin But a Good Time” at the Bret Michaels concert July 2 at the Centenary College Gold Dome. Locals Irene & The Sleepers opened for the legendary rock star. Some fans had the opportunity to meet Michaels on his bus, pose for pictures and get autographs.

Cake: The Icing on the Cake Competition was held July 13 at Bossier Parish Community College. The event benefi ts the Quota Club of Shreveport. Cakes – wedding, theme (greeting cards), buttercream and special occasions – are judged in the children’s/teen, amateur, advanced, semi-professional and professional categories. Holy Angels was among vendors selling cookies. Returning for her fourth year, Food Network Cake Champion Bronwen Weber, along with other prominent cake professionals, brought his/her talent to the stage. Activities, which included basic cake decorating, gumpaste fl owers, ice sculpting and working with isomalt, were offered during the event.
