The American Cancer Society is offering an opportunity for Ark-La-Tex residents to participate in a free nationwide cancer research study.

Enrollment is open through July 27 for the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention Study-3. Enrollment will take place across the Shreveport-Bossier City area at various locations. This is the first and the last time that people from the Ark-La-Tex area will have the opportunity to participate in a cancer research study this large.

Men and women between age 30 and 65 who have never be diagnosed with cancer can enroll.

To register, schedule your appointment time and place at cps3northla.org or call 1-888-604-5888.

Enrollment sessions will be 25 minutes. During the sessions, ACS will hand out consent forms and surveys. Patrons will be asked to provide a waist circumference measurement and give a small blood sample. Sessions will be held 3:30 to 7 p.m. July 24 at Stonewall Missionary Baptist Church, 4 to 7:30 p.m. July 25 at CHRISTUS Health, Highland and 8 to 11:30 a.m. July 27 at YMCA of NW Louisiana, Broadmoor.

This study has the potential to prevent cancer for future generations.
