Dine In
Sevendipity to serve up eclectic Saturday dinners
Elizabeth Bowen and Scott Roebuck are about to celebrate their second anniversary – more specically, the second anniversary of their popular downtown eatery, Sevendipity. As of Aug. 8, Sevendipity will have been serving hungry diners – some of the most creative and innovative cuisine in the market.
More than two years ago when Roebuck moved to Shreveport from Houston to join his ancé Bowen, he was having trouble nding a job in the depressed market of the time. Doing job research online, he stumbled across a posting for the old Theo’s location downtown at 420 Marshall next to the main branch of the Shreve Memorial Library. Though neither Bowen or Roebuck had any background in the restaurant business, they decided to jump in the deep end and open one. The restaurant’s name came from nding a space t for their business along with their family of seven — hence Sevendipity. Roebuck created the adventurous menu by researching online and also taking notes while watching cooking programs on television.
From the beginning, Sevendipitiy established itself as a unique go-to restaurant with the breakfast and lunch crowd. Now, a one-night-a-month Saturday dinner opening looms on the horizon. A dinner
was held recently for crowd of about 30, organized under the aegis of
Chris Jay, public relations and social media manager for the Shreveport-
Bossier Convention & Tourist Bureau. The success of that trial run,
has led the owners to plan on doing it at least one Saturday night a
month starting in June.

Phone: 220-7201
Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday Dinner dates and hours to be announced. Exceptional service in a welcoming and casual atmosphere.
Some of the top winners were the duck tacos with Mexican grilled corn and cilantro, a mango salad, a tender and avorful pork loin with roasted peaches and apricot barbecue sauce with baby rainbow carrots and Irish mashed potatoes.
But, on any weekday from Monday through Friday, you will discover Roebuck’s adventurous creativity on display from amazing watermelon pork and lettuce wraps to the tequila lime sh tacos.
Regulars also ock to Sevendipity for other popular items such as spaghetti and meatballs and salads. The meatballs are handmade and served with homemade marinara sauce over spaghetti. Thai beef and a chicken, cranberry, apple served with pecans are among the popular salads. For the Thai beef, thinly sliced steak marinated in Thai marinade are accompanied with baby mixed greens, Thai basil, mint, bean sprouts, papaya, watermelon and cashews tossed in the house Thai dressing.
Burgers and sandwiches also rule at Sevendipity with some of my favorites being the margarita chicken sandwich with (chicken breast marinated with the house margarita marinade, mayo, cabbage, red onion, fried red peppers, Provolone cheese and the zesty house-made jalapeno ranch dressing; the Tex-Mex burger with re-fried beans, Fritos, bacon, pico de gallo, avocados, Monterey pepper jack and the jalapeno ranch; and the King of Clubs, a triple decker with ham, chicken, turkey, roast beef, bacon, mayo or Miracle Whip, tomatoes, lettuce, sprouts, onion, avocado, pepper jack cheese, mozzarella and American cheese with the house creation, 7dip Sauce.
No matter what you order, breakfast, lunch or dinner, you will be happy with the selection and counting the days until you can come back for another trip to one of the area’s most eclectic and satisfying eateries.
