Photos by Mollie Corbett Photography
Saturday, Nov. 19, Molly Melancon and José Cordero were married at Fairfield Manor in Shreveport. The bride is the daughter of Larry and Kathy Melancon of Shreveport. She teaches drama at SJB Cathedral School.
The groom is the son of Alamando & Renée Cordero of Alexandria, and Dalys Cordero and Juan Pérez of Bossier City. He is a local contractor.
Molly’s gown was designed by Alfred Sung, from ivory satin with taupe appliqués of pearl beading with a sweetheart neckline with a dropped waist that gave way to a dramatic pleated skirt.
The junior bride was Marcie Melancon, niece of the bride. The maid of honor was Sarah Lerchie, best friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kingsleigh and Killiane Kramer, cousins of the bride.
Flower girls were Allie Melancon, niece of the bride, Presleigh Walton and Libby Claire Robinson, cousins of the bride The best man was Mikey Tracey, best friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Jack Harkey and Claude Comeau, friends of the Groom. Ring bearer was Hudson Walton, cousin of the bride.
Officiating was Patrick Kirton, friend of the family. The beautiful music was provided by friends Susan Kirton and Rocky Maddox with violinist Leonard Kacenjar. A reading from First Corinthians was spoken by the bride’s cousin, Dr. Larry K. Robinson.
The wedding and reception were hosted at the beautiful Highland mansion at 2300 Fairfield and were catered by owner John Cariere and coordinated by Julie Martin. The night was a magical evening ushering in the first cool night here in Shreveport. The twinkling light, spectacular lit candelabras and the beautiful stars made for a gorgeous setting for the themed wedding. Fairy tales were what Molly was raised on in Peter Pan Players, and the evening carried out her theater history, from the Broadway medley as a prelude, followed by “Once Upon A Dream” for the children. Molly was escorted by her dad, Larry, to the song “Tale as Old as Time,” sung by Susan Kirton. This held special meaning because in Peter Pan Players’ production, Susan played Mrs. Potts and Molly played Chip. The music rounded out the ceremony while the Unity Candle was lit. Rocky Maddox and Susan Kirton sang “All I Ask of You,” which is a Melancon family favorite. Mentions of Miz Iz in the message were also very touching. The bride and groom provided Patrick Kirton with wonderful words to one another. “Love was in the Air!” José and Molly Cordero will reside in Shreveport, La.
