DESIGN & DÉCOR

Giving a living room and foyer a new vibe through rose-colored glasses.

When Jennifer Monsour called to have her living room and foyer designed, it was like hearing from an old friend. We had worked on her offi ce months earlier, and it was a blast! Her only request was to lighten up her “drab” living area with a fresh, modern vibe. Aside from this, we had free rein … “Oh, Happy Day!” My only question to her was, did she like pink and, more specifically, dusty rose? She did.

And so, it began. I had seen a beautiful patterned chair on clearance at Dillard’s a few days earlier and knew it was the perfect piece to dictate the palette and feel for the room. We bathed the room in a light grey called “Drift of Mist” and had her ceiling painted a soft pink called “Innocence,” both from Sherwin Williams. Painting is the fastest and most efficient way to change the feel of a room.

Now it was time to find pieces that complemented our “inspiration” chair. A quick trip to Walworth & Co. in West Monroe provided us with the perfect modern version of a Chesterfield sofa, a cute li’l side table shaped like a tassel and some cool, framed geodes. We found our console and gold spiral lamps for the foyer at Paul Michaels in Monroe. Everything else came from the Shreveport/Bossier area.

Dillard’s in Bossier yielded a gorgeous acid-stained, mirrored coffee table, gold-leafed painting and a super cool sunburst mirror. An awesome pink/gold abstract came from Nader’s Gallery, the blue suede chair from World Market, chandelier in the living room is from S.E. Salvage, and the banded metal chandelier in the foyer came from House of Carpets and Lighting. Other accessories such as pillows and rugs came from big box stores like Pier One, World Market and Tuesday Morning.

We love to help our clients see their rooms in a whole new way; in this space, it is now seen through rosetinted glasses.
