Coming together for spirit of exchange The Petroleum Club in Downtown Shreveport, Slow Food North Louisiana, in collaboration with other partners and sponsors, hosted a Reconciliation Dinner on Aug. 27. This dinner was based on a famous historical event that happened in Charleston, S.C., at the close of the Civil War. The Shreveport Reconciliation Dinner was an invitation-only gathering of invitees, each of whom represent lives that are interwoven into the cultural and racial fabric of our city’s growth and history. The community was encouraged to nominate individuals who they believed could contribute to the discussion due to his or her record of working to encourage this spirit of exchange. Out of roughly 180 such nominations, 44 individuals were chosen. This was a celebration of culinary passion and social justice, helping to set the tone for a renewed spirit of cooperation. – Mark Crawford
