Secrets to your best season yet

Makeup by katie

Q&A:

What are your best kept secrets for a great look this fall?

Katie: As we transition into the fall and winter months, it’s important to Reader: think about your skin the same way as fashion. Just like the texture of your wardrobe changes so does your skin. In the winter it’s corduroy, while in summer you can wear linen, therefore it’s time to update your skin care. I am always an open book with my clients about my own skin issues which allows them to understand what products work through my own skin care regimes.

One of my all-time favorite cleansers for the winter months is Purity by Philosophy. The texture is creamy and smooth, dissolves all face and eye makeup and leaves skin supple and soft for winter months. A great way to see instant results is to change up your skin care routine. For example: One day, use an everyday cleanser, and then the next day use a more hydrating cleanser. Your skin will thank you for the instant pick me up.

Now let’s talk toner. This skin care option can be really great for some, just make sure to select the right toner for your skin. One of my newfound treasures is the M dere toner for dry skin. This product is all-natural with a gel-like texture that hydrates while removing excess makeup and debris.

If there is one thing that you must use for winter, it’s eye cream. This is where we show visible signs of aging first. I am constantly trying new products to solve my own skin care mysteries. While doing some detective work, I’ve discovered La Prairie, an anti-aging eye and lip contouring cream. This cream is a gently cream that softens lines around the eyes and lips without causing irritation. One of the other fabulous benefits is that it’s compatible with make up.

Thanks to my friend Amy Stafford who has helped me with my skin care challenges through her Botox and skin care treatments, she has turned me on to a cream that instantly calms redness from skin. SkinMedica Redness Relief has helped me personally with my rosacea flare ups. Anyone who struggles with rosacea knows how important it is to have an effective moisturizer that calms the skin. Sisley Confort extreme cream, for day or night for dry and sensitive skin, soothes irritated red skin. The use of the Sisley cream with the Redness cream has worked wonders for me.

Of course, remember moisturizing is a must, no matter what season.
