Tips to look tan this summer
Q: I’m wondering if I should invest in tanning lotion to start my summer glow. Do you have any advice on selftanners?
Katie: There are so many self-tanners out there on the market it can seem quite overwhelming. There are some basic self-tanner categories to simplify your shopping experience:
• Self-tanners specifically made for the face.
• Self-tanners that once applied give a gradual tan overnight or within a few days.
• Self-tanners that when applied give an instant tan.
Q: If I am fair, what kind of self-tanner should I use?
Katie: You should use one that is for a light to medium tan. A great trick of the trade is to mix half part self-tanner and the other half part body lotion and apply. That way it sheers the pigment out and will never appear to dark or orange on a fair skin.
Q: If I have a farmer’s tan and have to attend an event the same day, what is a good tip to cover it up?
Katie: An excellent ‘quick fix’ is to first spray the area with a body oil mist lightly and rub it into the skin. Then apply an instant body bronzer over it and blend.
I
find that the Too Faced Royal Oil Coconut Body Bronzer works perfectly.
You will need to stand in front of a fan for a few minutes to allow for
drying.
To achieve
even better results lightly set it with a large brush and translucent
powder. This body bronzer will wash off instantly after your special
event.
For those of
you who feel like this is too much work a quick spray tan is another way
to fix a farmer’s tan and look fabulous in an instant.
A tan can always take off seven to 10 pounds instantly.
