McKenzy Boyd, DDS, found her passion in the family business.
Her father and brother are both dentists, and another brother is an orthodontist. Dr. Boyd had plenty of inspiration for her career path. “I saw the relationships that my dad had with all of his patients, and I knew I wanted the same thing.”
Dr. Boyd first came to Louisiana from her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska to earn her B.S. in Biology from LSU. After finishing her dental training in Wisconsin and beginning her practice in South Dakota, Dr. Boyd made the permanent move down south to bring her passion for oral healthcare to Shreveport.
Dr. Boyd and her husband, Dr. Jared Boyd opened their joint practice in June of 2012, bringing their cumulative experience to the area by purchasing an existing practice. Dr. Boyd says, “I feel very fortunate to work with my husband – its nice to discuss challenging cases with one another and get to know our patients together.” Dr. Boyd sees adults and children, and as a general dentist she does everything – from toothaches, to replacing missing teeth, cosmetic dentistry, preventative cleanings, whitening, and oral cancer screenings.
Dr. Boyd is a proud member of the Northwestern Dental Association, and is certified in ClearCorrect clear aligner therapy and enjoys placing and restoring dental implants. Dr. Boyd says, “My favorite part of the job is helping patients get out of pain, or giving someone the smile they’ve always wanted. It’s a very rewarding profession.”
Currently remodeling their building, the Boyds have already made several technology updates to better serve their patients, including digital x-rays. The practice boasts a staff with over 40 years of dental experience, and Dr. Boyd says “We focus on customer service, and I am proud of my staff every day.”
Dr. Boyd stays involved in the community through her service on the board for Girls On The Run. This nonprofit organization encourages young girls to develop self-esteem while training for a 5k race. Her 9-month-old twins, Beau and Sadie, also keep her busy, and Dr. Boyd is an avid LSU Tigers and Saints fan. She enjoys cooking, running and duck hunting with her family.
