Monjunis Italian Cafe and Grocery has been a Shreveport-Bossier favorite since it opened in 1986. For General Manager Emily Murrell Gates, however, Monjunis has been an instrumental part of her life. “I was born and raised in Shreveport, and started working at Monjunis when I was 16,” she said. “I left to go to college at Millsaps College, got a degree in Business, and came back and took over the General Manager position.”

Gates enjoys working with the people who come through the doors at Monjunis. “I love putting a smile on a customer’s face. Everyone likes to eat, and I like to make the experience as enjoyable as possible.” When she is not working, Gates enjoys playing with her kids, eating good food and drinking wine.

The experience of working for Monjunis goes far beyond just being an employee for Gates. “The Rosso family has been an huge part of my life for so long, I consider them my mentors, but more so, my family.”

Monjunis Italian Cafe and Grocery is located at 1315 Louisiana Avenue in Shreveport and are open Monday- Saturday from 10:30-9:00.
